Details

Welcome to the “Red Pine Cabin”. We recently purchased this rustic, but charming cabin from the family who originally built it in the mid 1950's. It has a beautiful setting right on the Au Train River only a few yards downstream from the 830 acre Au Train Lake. The cabin is situated in a predominately red pine forest, so “Red Pine Cabin” seemed a fitting name. It is bordered by the Hiawatha National Forest.

The Au Train River empties into Lake Superior, which is just a mile away from the cabin. To the east, Munising and the Pictured Rocks are only a 20 minute drive away. Meanwhile, the city of Marquette is 30 minutes to the west.

Such a quaint cabin in such a beautiful area right on the river - we felt it was definitely something we needed to share.

We are open year round!

The cabin has two bedrooms on ground level and one bedroom upstairs. Bedroom #1 has one queen bed, bedroom #2 has one full size bed and the upstairs has three single (twin size) beds. There is a full bath (tub and shower).

Red Pine Cabin is on the Au Train River, with a dock, so bring your fishing pole, canoe, kayaks. The cabin comes with the use of a 12' aluminum row boat, and fiberglass canoe. A motor for the boat is optional for an additional fee. Pontoon, kayak and canoe rentals are nearby. There is also a campfire ring with lawn chairs and a charcoal fired grill (you furnish charcoal/lighter). Firewood for one evening campfire is complimentary, with additional firewood available at an additional fee. For cold weather guests, we have a limited number of snowshoes for an additional fee. Groomed snowmobile trails are within 1 ½ miles and you can ride directly from the Cabin. There are a multitude of activities year round: fishing, hunting, swimming, hiking, skiing, dog sleds, snowmobiling, bird watching, waterfalls, lighthouses, fall colors, rock hunting, sunsets, and to a few lucky people- northern lights, to name just a few.

Red Pine Cabin is a no smoking cabin. Sorry, but we do not allow pets.

The cabin comes furnished with towels (no beach towels), bedding, pillows, pots, pans, silverware, dishes, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. There is also a washer and dryer for your convenience.

We do NOT furnish paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, garbage bags, etc.) We provide enough to start your stay, but plan on furnishing your own. Also things such as dish washing detergent, hand soap, laundry detergent are not furnished, and again we provide enough to start. **We have the policy that if you use things that are there when you arrive - that you replace those things with at least as much as was there when you began your stay**.

We provide internet service, a television and DVD player, however no television service other than through the internet. There are a few DVD's, books and games for those rainy days. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is God's Country! Eighty four (84%) percent of the Upper Peninsula is forested land (approx. 8.8 million acres) There is an abundance of beauty that nature provides, and outdoor activities to see and do year round. (Thus the reason we don't provide dish television) We encourage you to to get out, explore the outdoors and enjoy the things that nature provides!
